Top Va. Legal Rep Caught With Marijiuana X-Mas Gift

Assistant attorney general also charged with carrying concealed weapon

Norfolk, Va. -- A Virginia assistant attorney general has been suspended after being arrested on drug and weapon charges.

His attempt at disguising marijuana as a Christmas gift led Norfolk police to charge 46-year-old Steven F. Lederman on Thursday with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon.

According to a search warrant affidavit, a drug-sniffing dog discovered the marijuana all wrapped up for the holidays in Lederman's van.

Police say they made the arrest after acting on a tip, sources told News4.  (Perhaps from someone at the North Pole?)

Attorney General's Office spokesman David Clementson says Lederman has been with the agency since 1997 and works in the Division of Child Support Enforcement. Clementson says Lederman has been suspended pending further investigation.
