Car Chase Snakes Through DC, Md. After Robberies: Police

Three people tied to a crime spree spanning parts of Maryland and D.C. on Monday are in custody after a high-speed car chase, police say.

The crime spree started with a bank robbery, followed by two street robberies. Then, the suspects fled by car.

At one point during the car chase that lasted for more than half an hour, a gray car sped along Suitland Parkway in the wrong direction.

The chase came to an end on South Capitol Street near Nationals Park, when police cornered the car.

Traffic camera video shows three robbery suspects jump out of a gray car and try to escape on foot, down South Capitol Street in the opposite direction. The suspects didn’t leave the brakes on the car, so the video shows it rolling down the street.

The suspects didn’t get far because the police surrounded the area, and the three suspects were put into custody shortly after.

The suspects are charged with a number of crimes connected to a bank robbery, the street robberies, traffic violations and possession of a gun.
