MAN RECOVERING FROM LIGHTNING STRIKE
It could take up to a year for a man who was struck by lightning Sunday to make a full recovery.
The 47-year-old victim, Steve, and his wife were visiting the area, and were two of eight passengers aboard a 44-foot boat that had set sail on the Potomac River last weekend, said the boat’s captain, and Steve’s brother, Terry. (Inside NoVA)
IT'S GOOD TO BE A CEO IN WASHINGTON
The CEOs of top performing local public companies received much bigger pay raises in 2009 than the CEOs of top performing companies in 10 major cities nationwide, according a new study.
The study by BDO USA LLP, a professional services firm, looked at the relationship between the change in total CEO compensation (including salary, bonus, stock options, etc.) between 2008 and 2009 and the total shareholder return of the company over the same year. (Washington Business Journal)
THIS WEEKEND'S POTENTIALLY CONFUSING METRO MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
This weekend is your last chance to ride Metro before the new peak-of-the-peak surcharge goes into effect, but plenty of maintenance work on Saturday and Sunday will mean riders on the Red, Blue, Yellow and Orange lines should budget some extra time, if not extra fare, on Saturday and Sunday. Those of you who depend on the Blue and Yellow Lines to get you from Northern Virginia or Maryland into the District will want to pay very close attention -- to facilitate track repairs, Metrorail service in certain areas will be extremely limited this weekend. LEADER OF 'LARGEST PCP RING EVER IN DC' GETS LIFE IN PRISON
A man was sentenced to life in prison for his role as the leader of a major drug ring that distributed PCP and heroin in the Washington area.

Lonnell Glover, 48, of Temple Hills, Md., was also ordered to forfeit more than $1 million in proceeds from the conspiracy during a federal court hearing Thursday.
Authorities say Glover led a drug operation that obtained and distributed about 50 gallons of PCP and multiple kilograms of heroin in D.C. and Maryland between February and June 2007. In seeking a life sentence, prosecutors in a sentencing memorandum asked the court to consider, "Glover's leadership role in this conspiracy and the magnitude of his PCP operation."
