15-Year-Old Shot

DC police are investigating a shooting that occurred just outside a recreation center in NW. The shooting occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, in the 1400 block of Girard St. NW.  A 15 year-old boy was shot in the hand. Nobody inside the center was injured. Police are still looking for the shooter.

Nokesville Teen Dies From Injuries Sustained in Weekend Accident

A 16-year-old teen died Sunday after sustaining injuries in a car accident that happened at 11 p.m. Saturday night, police report. Police said a 2007 Honda Civic was traveling west bound on Vint Hill Road just before Schaeffer Lane around 11 p.m. Saturday when the driver ran off the left side of the road, hitting a ditch and a tree.  (InsideNoVa.com)

Violent Crime Drops in Prince George's County

Fewer people in Prince George's County were reported killed, raped, robbed, carjacked and assaulted in 2008 than in the previous year, and with new technology police are confident they can continue the trend, officials said today. The county recorded an 8.9 percent drop in violent crime, and a 3.9 percent decline in overall crime. (Washington Post)

Toyota Prius Adds More Miles

Toyota's redesigned 2010 Prius gasoline-electric hybrid, on sale this summer, will be rated 50 miles gallon in combined city-highway driving and more than 50 in town, the automaker said as it unveiled the Prius re-do Monday. That bests the current version's rating of 48 mpg in the city and 46 in combined city-highway driving and would make it the most fuel-efficient car sold in the U.S. by a significant margin.
