SHOT DOWN: GUN RIDER KILLS DC VOTE BILL, FOR NOW.
Legislation to give the District of Columbia voting representation in the House has been pulled from Wednesday’s calendar because of concerns about Republican efforts to use the bill to wipe out many of the District’s gun laws. A key House aide confirmed that the bill will be pulled from consideration, at least for Wednesday. The aide stressed that negotiations are continuing and the bill could come up in the future. FENTY FEELS THE HEAT FOR DUBAI TRIP
A local religious leader has spoken out about D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty's controversial and unscheduled visit to the United Arab Emirates in mid-February.  Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld, of the National Synagogue, has written a letter to Fenty asking for an apology after the mayor attended the Dubai Tennis Championships. The international event had drawn criticism because the UAE denied an Israeli player, Shahar Peer, a visa to enter the country. (WTOP)
