Man Who Stole Money Meant for Victims Sentenced

A former worker in the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office who admitted to stealing more than $20,000 intended for crime victims has been sentenced to six months in jail.

Leroy Ambush III, 32, of Frederick, also was ordered to pay restitution and perform 300 hours of community service at sentencing Wednesday in Frederick County Circuit Court.

Ambush pleaded guilty last month to felony theft. The State Prosecutor's Office said he stole restitution payments intended for crime victims 56 times between February 2010 and March 2013. Officials said he worked as a victim and witness coordinator.
