Teeing Off to Help Fight Ebola at Va. Fundraiser

Local charity hosts golfing fundraiser

An annual golfing fundraiser has taken on new urgency due to the worldwide Ebola crisis.

Proceeds from the 13th annual tournament to benefit Helping Children Worldwide will be used at Mercy Hospital and the Child Rescue Center in Bo, Sierra Leone.

Mercy Hospital is leading efforts to fight the spread of Ebola in that part of the country. Helping Children Worldwide is a Chantilly-based charity that helps poor children through health, education and nutrition.

Executive Director Ginny Wagner said the golf tournament is a win for both the charity and the businesses that participate.

The golf tournament is Monday, Sept. 8 at the 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Virginia.

If you don't golf, you can still participate in the silent auction or the live auction, including items like Nationals tickets and travel packages on the block.
