Tareq Salahi Intends to Run for Virginia Governor

An unlikely candidate has emerged as a possible candidate to replace Bob McDonnell as Virginia's governor: White House gate crasher Tareq Salahi.

Salahi said Wednesday that he intends to run for governor next year as a Republican.

Another publicity stunt?  Perhaps.

Does he have a chance of winning?  Considering he managed to get inside a White House State Dinner in 2009, anything is possible.

Salahi's name was in the news earlier this week when Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli filed a lawsuit against Salahi over a wine tour venture for alleged violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.

As you may or may not know, Cuccinelli has already announced that he will be running for Virginia governor in 2013.

As the AP reports, "Salahi completed a declaration of candidacy, but it's meaningless until Jan. 1 under state law. A State Board of Elections official says the agency that oversees Virginia elections can't accept the declaration until the year in which the election is scheduled."

The next logical question: Would Salahi's former love, Michaele, run for lieutenant governor?

We'll update this with more bizarre information as it becomes available.
