Police are still searching for the person who spit in the face of a 69-year-old man and then beat him until he fell down a Metro escalator.
Both the victim and the suspect got off an Orange Line train at the Eastern Market Metro station at about 1 p.m. Friday.
The victim told police that the other man shoved him as they exited the train. The two can be seen in surveillance video exchanging words on the escalator. In the video, the younger man then waits at the top of the escalator and spits in the older man's face.
As the older man tries to push the younger man away, the suspect began hitting the victim in the face and head until he fell to the ground.
The man suffered injuries to his face, but he is expected to recover.
Detectives hope someone will recognize the suspect from several surveillance pictures they have released.
