Suspect in Attack of 8-Year-Old Girl Walking to School Also Accused of Groping Woman on Bus

A man accused of choking and robbing an 8-year-old girl walking to school Monday also is suspected of groping a woman on a Metrobus earlier that morning.

The girl was walking in the 4900 block of Annapolis Road in Bladensburg about 7:50 a.m. when 34-year-old Lamar Samuel of southeast Washington attacked her and took her phone, Prince George’s County police said.

With the girl in a chokehold, Samuel carried her across the street where Bladensburg Elementary School staff got him to let her go, police said.

The school was locked down.

When officers arrived, Samuel had just urinated on the school building, police said. The officers took him into custody.

The girl’s injuries were not serious.

Samuel faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault, indecent exposure and robbery.
