Areas of Heavy Rain Move Through Sunday Morning; Expected to Clear in Afternoon

Runners and cheerers at the Marine Corps Marathon are powering through the rain Sunday morning, but skies should clear out before the Nats' final 2019 World Series home game before the series heads back to Houston.

Areas of heavy rain are moving through the D.C. area Sunday morning, along with the threat of a thunderstorm or two, due to tropical moisture and an associated cold front push through the region.

Storm Team4 has declared a Weather Alert for Sunday morning.

The rain will end from the west to the east and should be out of the region by 1 p.m. (and by 2 p.m. for extreme southern Maryland). Gusty winds will turn more breezy heading into the afternoon, with winds calming through the evening.

Temperatures on Sunday will be rather warm, topping out in the mid 70s under sunny skies in the afternoon. Overnight, we'll be in the 50s, with clear skies.
