Strong Band of Storms Moves Through Area

A strong line of storms moved through the area beginning Friday afternoon.

The line extending from our area to southern Virginia and North Carolina carried potential for high winds and heavy rains, said Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Veronica Johnson.

The nasty weather reached Prince William County around 4:30 p.m. Most of the heavy rain was out of the D.C. area moving north and west before 7 p.m.

Rain showers will quiet down by around 11 p.m.

Areas of southern Virginia and North Carolina are under a tornado watch; no watches are in effect for the D.C. area.
