University professors and administrators among highest paid state workers

A university administrator tops the list of the highest-paid state employees in Virginia.

That's according to information obtained by the Washington Business Journal which filed a Freedom of Information Act request.

Number one on the list is the Executive Vice President and Provost of the University of Virginia, Dr. Arthur Garson, Jr.

He is paid $706,800 a year.

Second on the list is Jim Larranaga, the head coach of the George Mason University men's basketball team.

His salary comes in at $525,000 a year.

Third on the list is Paul Mahoney, the dean at the University of Virginia, followed by Steven Dekosky, the medical school dean of the University of Virginia at $417,755 and Gordon Ginder, the director of Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Cancer Center at $400,646.
