Strangulation to Become a Felony in Maryland

Strangulation will be a felony in Maryland starting Thursday, after advocacy related to domestic violence. “I almost died being strangled by my abuser,” one woman told News4’s Darcy Spencer. Victims of strangulation are much more likely to be killed by their abusers in the future, said the head of the special victims division in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
