State Dinner Crasher Ordered to Pay Another Debt

Judge: Salahi owes electric shop $1,000

The alleged state dinner crashers are hosting a party in Las Vegas, but in light of their latest court-ordered debt payment, one wonders what tabs they might walk out on.

Frederick County General District Court Judge David S. Whitacre ordered Tareq Salahi pay a $1,039 bill from Winchester Electric Service Inc. for repairing a generator after he failed to appear at hearing Friday, the Winchester Star reported.

Salahi informed the court that he was unable to attend Friday's hearing because he was snowed in on Apple Mountain in Warren County. Whitacre rejected Salahi's claim after asking a bailiff to inquire about road conditions there.

Salahi and his wife, Michaele, gained notoriety in November when they made their way into a state dinner without being approved guests.

The Winchester bill isn't the first the Salahis are accused of failing to pay. They've been accused of questionable fund-raising practices, a bounced check for $24,000 in booze and a $2,000 judgment against them for stiffing a landscaper. It was for that last debt that Tareq Salahi surrendered a Patek Phillipe watch that could be worth up to $325,000 if genuine. Turned out to be a fake, but a check was issued to cover that bill.

A New York winery also has sued Salahi, claiming he owes $50,615 for bottling equipment.

An event promoter confirmed that the Salahis were invited to host a Jan. 16 red carpet event at PURE Nightclub in Caesar's Palace. Better be an all inclusive invitation.
