Woman Not Badly Hurt in Collapse of Stage Ramp at Madeira School in Northern Virginia

A 21-year-old woman was briefly stuck Friday after a stage ramp collapsed at the Madeira School in McLean.

Laura Temple, director of communications for the all-girls' school, said the woman was part of a traveling acting troupe that had built their own stage in the woods on Madeira's property a troupe event.

Temple said the woman was trying to adjust a ramp to the stage around noon Friday when it fell on her leg and she was unable to get it off. EMS crews were called to the school, and the Madeira security crew was make to remove the ramp from the woman.

She went to urgent care to be checked over.

The Madeira School is a boarding and day school for grades 9 through 12. According to the school's website, students are not yet back on campus. Classes are scheduled to begin Sept. 3.
