St. Patrick's Day DC: Parades, Parties, Deals, Music and More

Celebrations during the day could be accompanied by rain showers

Grab your green clothing and plan to eat plenty of corned beef this weekend.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, but a chance of rain showers could make the celebrations more like Ireland than planned.

Storm Team4 says Saturday will be cloudy and cold with a chance of rain showers in the midday and early afternoon. Stay with the News 4 for weather updates as the day comes closer.

Regardless of the chance of rain, local bars and restaurants are stocking up on their Guinness, Jameson and green decorations. Here are some of the places you can go to take part in the cultural and religious celebration:

Parades, Art and Bar Crawls

National Shamrock Fest
RFK Stadium, Southeast Washington D.C.

“America’s largest St. Paddy’s Day festival” will bring thousands together in the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds to experience a variety of current and throwback rock bands. This is an event for all ages. In addition to the music and drinks, the event will have Irish dancers, bagpipers and party games. You can check out the artist lineup here and reserve tickets here

Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade
Old Town Alexandria, Virginia

After the Fun Dog Show at 11:30 a.m., a parade kicks off at 1:30 from King Street and St. Asaph Street. The fun continues afterwards with a car show.

St. Patrick's Day Irish Stroll Bar Crawl
Dupont Circle, Northwest Washington DC

This Dupont Circle bar crawl offers drink specials from 1 p.m. into the night. A bar crawl entry ticket will get you cover-free entry to 10 participating bars, which include Decades, Dirty Bar, Living Room and Barcode. Drink specials include $3 beers, $4 specialty beers and $5 mixed drinks.

The Shamrock Crawl
Dupont Circle, Northwest Washington D.C.

Beer lovers come together for this day of green celebrations at Dupont Circle bars. From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, participants have access to more than 16 bars, including Public Bar, Eden, Kabin and Heist. Anyone with a ticket gets a refillable shamrock mug, party favors, $2 beers, $4 shamrock shots and $5 Irish Car Bombs. 

Sights & Sounds: Ireland Today
Dupont Circle, Northwest, Washington D.C.

Dupont Underground is hosting artist Solas Nua to discuss her project exploring video art in Ireland. Friday, Nua will discuss her work ($10). On Saturday, you can stop in and enjoy the exhibit. From 10 a.m. to noon, the exhibit is free and offers activities geared towards kids. After noon, it costs $15. On Sunday, you can catch short films at the Irish Short Film festival ($8).

Kirwan's On The Wharf
The Wharf, Southwest Washington, D.C.

Start your day early by watching the final games of the Six Nations Rugby Championship at 8 a.m. Live music starts at 3 p.m. and Irish dancers will perform throughout the day.

Clyde's
Georgetown and Reston locations

Live bagpipes will be blowin' strong from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Georgetown and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Reston for the restaurant's St. Paddy's Day celebration.

Daniel O'Connell's Irish Restaurant and Bar
Alexandria, Virginia

Daniel O'Connell's will feature live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in addition to daily food specials. They'll also host brunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Ireland's Four Courts
Arlington, Virginia

The celebrations kick off at 8 a.m. with brunch and a heated party tent. There will also be live music from Sanford Markley, Chasing Autumn, Pete Baker and Eddie Pasa.

St. Patrick’s Day Kegs and Eggs
Mclean Gardens/Tenleytown, Northwest Washington, D.C.

The Grilled Oyster Company in Northwest D.C. wants to kick off the celebrations early with brunch and bottomless drinks for $25. Here’s the menu. Brunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the day of festivities, and the restaurant menu offers Irish-themed food like fish and chips and desert with Bailey’s whipped cream.

St. Patrick’s Day Beer Garden Party
Foggy Bottom, Northwest Washington, D.C.

The Watergate Hotel is making use of its new beer garden to host a lunch buffet with bottomless Guinness on tap from noon to 3 p.m. For $50, anyone can get all the Irish food and beer you care to ingest. The Next Whisky Bar at The Watergate will also be having a whisky party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for those who prefer whisky over beer.

St. Patrick’s Day at The Dirty Goose
U Street Corridor/Shaw, Northwest, Washington, D.C.

“Get lucky at The Dirty Goose on St. Patrick's Day,” the bar says on its Facebook event. Saturday at The Dirty Goose will have $5 Green Beer and $6 Jameson shots. DJ Farrah Flosscett will be playing the event all night.

St. Patrick’s Day, Rooftop Style
U Street Corridor/Shaw, Northwest, Washington, D.C.

Hawthorne on U Street is hosting celebrations Saturday with bottomless brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and drink specials from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. NCAA games are supposed to be aired and DJ Mike will be playing music. The bar said it will have $5 Green Bud Lights, $7 Guinness and $6.50 Jameson shots.

St. Patrick's Day Weekend in the Tap Room at Union Stage
The Wharf, Southwest, Washington, D.C.

Grab $6 Guinesses, $7 Jameson drinks and $9 Irish Car Bombs beginning at 5 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Midlands
Parkview, Northwest, Washington, D.C.

Start your day healthy with 9 a.m. yoga ($15) so you feel good when smashing pizza and brews at The Midlands' St. Patrick's Day Pabst APA release party! Timber Pizza will be singing slices. Sunday, you can recover with $20 bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's, breakfast tacos and NCAA games.

Murphy's Irish Pub
Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia

The bar doesn't charge a cover and will have live music all day.
