Son Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Father to Death in Leesburg

A Virginia man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his father to death after an argument last fall, prosecutors said.

Hector Anthony Flores, Jr., 28, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Flores and his father, Hector Flores Sr., spent most of Sept. 24, 2017 drinking and watching football with a neighbor. On the drive back to their Loudoun County home, the two got into an argument.

The argument continued once they arrived home, and it soon turned physical.

Prosecutors say the victim hit his son twice in the ribs with closed fists. The younger Flores then grabbed a large knife from a kitchen knife block and stabbed his father three times, authorities say.

Flores Sr. tried to go to a neighbor for help, but his son followed, stabbing him three more times in the back, according to prosecutors.

"When I opened the door, I see him on the ground," the neighbor told News4.

Flores Sr. died at the scene, police said.

The younger Flores left the area, but he turned himself in to police a short itme later.

"They used to get along very good," the victim's sister, Amanda Flores, said last fall. "I just have the feeling that alcohol has a lot to do with this tragedy."

Flores Jr. will be sentenced on July 31. He faces up to 40 years in prison.
