Some Ellicott City Residents Can Return to Buildings

Howard County officials said they're allowing some people to return to Ellicott City's flood-damaged Main Street this weekend.

County officials said in a statement that merchants, residents, building owners and their guests have to be credentialed in order to access the street on Saturday and Sunday. Access to the street had been suspended to give officials time to examine the infrastructure in the area.

Officials said they've determined that residents, merchants and building owners can return this weekend to continue their own cleanup efforts.

Two people were killed when the town took on 6.5 inches of water within hours two weeks ago.
