The Smithsonian Folklife Festival will reopen at 11 a.m. Sunday after storm damage shuttered the festival Saturday.
Officials said several tents collapsed or partially collapsed as a result of the fierce storms that hit the region Friday night. There was no damage to the AIDS quilt, which was taken inside before the storm hit.
For safety reasons, organizers decided to close the festival for the day on Saturday so that they had time to clean up.
The Rinzler Memorial Concert did go ahead as planned Saturday night, but it was moved indoors to Baird Auditorium in the National Museum of Natural History.
