A girl found dead in Gaithersburg, Md., last week was stabbed in her home, authorities said.
Jessica Nguyen, 12, was found dead in a home in the 700 block of Ravens Avenue May 31. Her death initially was investigated as suspicious but was elevated to a homicide investigation when trauma to her upper body was found.
Police still haven’t said how long her body was in the home before she was discovered.
Jessica was a sixth-grade student at Gaithersburg Middle School, The Associated Press reported. Neighbors told NBC Washington that a husband and wife and their young daughter lived inside the home along with an aunt, who also had a daughter, and a grandmother.
No suspect information has been released, but a Montgomery County police spokesman said they interviewed family, friends and neighbors.
