Silver Spring Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Distribution

Investigators say he had hundreds of thousands of images

A Silver Spring man pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography.

Prosecutors said Gary Callis, 42, had over 8000 movies portraying the sexual abuse of children, and nearly 900,000 pictures.

The case dates back to the fall of 2009, when FBI investigators engaged Callis over internet chats.  The investigators said Callis expressed an interest in trading images of young boys in sexual positions.  According to investigators, Callis described a sexual relationship that he said he had with a boy from age 6 to age 12.

Law enforcement executed a warrant in February of 2010 at Callis' Silver Spring home, and seized several hard drives filled with child pornography.

Callis admitted to investigators that he had molested a teenage neighbor and the son of his 2003 girlfriend.

If the court accepts the plea agreement Callis made with prosecutors, he will spend 20 years in jail and then the rest of his life under supervised release.  He also agreed to pay $24,000 in restitution to one of the victims.
