Shots Fired at Popular U Street Intersection During Howard Homecoming Weekend

Shots were fired Saturday night on one of D.C.'s busiest intersections for nightlife as thousands are visiting for Howard University's homecoming weekend.

D.C. police say they responded to the intersection of U Street, Florida Avenue and 9th Street NW for reports of a shooting just before 9 p.m.

Witnesses said they saw someone shot in the leg, but police have not found a shooting victim, police said. No bystanders were hurt in the shooting, according to police.

Officers found a car in the intersection of 9th and U streets near Nellie's Sports Bar with bullet holes, police said.

Video from an NBC employee shows two bullet holes in the driver's side window of the four-door car.

The neighborhood has seen a string of violent crimes including the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man who was walking near the Shaw Metro station on Sunday, Sept. 29.
