Maryland Sheriff Warns of Phony Solicitations for Fallen Deputy Fund

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about fake solicitations for a fund to benefit the families of fallen deputies.

Spokesman Kyle Andersen said in a statement Wednesday that the Maryland agency has received numerous inquiries about the phone calls.

He says the caller claims to represent the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge. Andersen says Harford County deputies are not represented by the FOP. And he says the Harford County Deputy Sheriff's Union would never call people to solicit donations.

Andersen says people wishing to donate to the families of two deputies who were fatally shot in the line of duty earlier this month, Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon, can do so through the GoFundMe.com website or the Harford County Deputy Sheriff's Union.
