Sex Assault Reported in University of Virginia Residence Hall

University of Virginia Police are investigating a sex assault that occurred in a residence hall late last month.

According to a letter from University Police Chief Michael Gibson, the assault occurred Jan. 30 and was reported Thursday. There were no other details released about the incident.

Police have not yet released any suspect or motive information.

Late last year, Rolling Stone magazine published an article about a gang rape at a U.Va. fraternity that was later retracted. The school's Greek life was temporarily suspended, and all sororities and fraternities had to sign a new set of rules meant to increase safety measures.
