A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect Thursday afternoon for parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties, Maryland, until 4 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

At 3:14 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Millersville, or near Crofton, moving south at 30 mph. The storm carries the risk of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, the NWS said. Damaging winds could cause some trees and large branches to fall.

Parts of the D.C. area could see isolated storms in some spots, but most of the region will stay dry, Storm Team4 said.
