Look for Soggy Morning Commute

There is still a chance of rain Tuesday night as a front coming from the Midwest sweeps into our region.  But the bigger impact could be on the Wednesday morning commute.

The front could bring isolated thunderstorms overnight, according to NBC Washington meteorologist Veronica Johnson.

Severe thunderstorm watches issued for parts of the D.C. area until 10 p.m., but chief meteorologist Doug Kammerer doesn't expect any storms in the D.C. area before 1 a.m. Click here to monitor watches and warnings.

Kammerer doesn't expect severe storms Wednesday morning, but there could be some damaging winds. The main issue likely will be rain, which is expected to be falling throughout the area around the morning rush, ending by about noon.

After the front goes by, it will turn much cooler by dawn Wednesday, with overnight lows in the low 50s. Rain could hamper the morning commute.

Much cooler weather will be in place during the day on Wednesday, along with a blustery northwesterly wind.  Highs Wednesday afternoon will only be around 60.

Thursday is looking much better, with sunny skies and afternoon highs reaching near 70.
