Seven Students Charged After Fight at Annapolis High School

Dispute stemmed from social media posts

Social media posts led to a fight and the arrests of seven students at Annapolis High School Monday morning.

Just after 7 a.m., an argument between 18-year-old Lakyra Reid and a 15-year-old girl about those online posts escalated when the girl picked up a chair and hit Reid with it in the cafeteria before classes, police said. Several other students joined the fight and a loud, disorderly crowd of students gathered to watch, according to the school resource officer.

Reid and the 15-year-old girl are charged with affray, disorderly conduct, disturbing school operations and assault. The 15-year-old girl also faces a reckless endangerment charge relating to using the chair as a weapon, and Reid is charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Also facing charges are 18-year-old Tamira Monique Smith, another 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy.
