Normal Service Resumes on Red Line After Morning Delays

Riders on Metro's Red Line had to deal with significant delays Tuesday morning after a track issue left trains single-tracking through the morning rush hour.

Train service was suspended for a short time Tuesday morning between the Farragut North and Gallery Place stations. Metro says an electrical current took a wayward path outside the Farragut North station, creating sparks from the trackbed.

Trains shared a track between the Farragut North and Judiciary Square stations through the morning rush hour. Normal service resumed just after 10:30 a.m.

The issue is not expected to affect service in the afternoon.
