Henrik Lundqvist was greeted with a heartwarming display from fans after leaving the Cleveland hospital where he had open-heart surgery this week.
Lundqvist, who signed with the Caps before being sidelined for the 2021 season, recently shared that his five-hour surgery "went really well." On Thursday, Lundqvist was permitted to leave the hospital and return to his family.
Waiting for him was his biggest fans with signs to welcome him home.
A heartwarming sight, Lundqvist spoke about how difficult the recent journey had been. While he's used to being away from his family for games, this was a lot different.
Lundqvist noted that he and his family will remain in Cleveland for additional testing before he begins the next step in his rehab process.
