Section of Emergency Power Not Working at Walter Reed Medical Center

A section of emergency power is not working at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Thursday night, causing changes to the hospital's operations until the problem is solved.

A spokesperson for Walter Reed said the problem was discovered during a routine test of the emergency power.

Pepco knows about the issue and the hospital is working to bring the system back. The spokesperson said the hospital is diverting laboring mothers and canceling all elective procedures until the problem is fixed.

Walter Reed is contacting patients who have scheduled procedures to reschedule.
