Secret Service Investigates Weapon Discharge Near Russian Embassy

Firearm discharged inside officer's vehicle

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating the accidental discharge of a firearm by one if its officers near the Russian Embassy.

According to a spokesperson, the incident happened around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, on the 2600 block of Tunlaw Road NW.

The U.S. Secret Service Office of Professional Responsibility is looking into the incident.

The gun was discharged inside an officer's car, the spokesperson said, shattering the vehicle's window.

No injuries have been reported.
