Secret Service Employee Arrested on Child Porn Charges in Maryland

An employee for the United States Secret Service has been arrested on charges he possessed and distributed child pornography, police say.

Jeffrey Litteral, 52, of Denton, Maryland, was arrested Tuesday night near his home, Maryland State Police said Wednesday.

Litteral has been charged with possession of child porn, distribution of child porn, possession of obscene material and distribution of obscene material.

The investigation into Litteral started in 2017 when a Maryland State Police investigator received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about possible child pornography being uploaded online.

After arresting him, police served a search warrant for Litteral's home in Caroline County and recovered electronic equipment. Investigators will do forensic tests on the equipment.

The U.S. Secret Service said in a statement that Litteral has been placed on administrative leave.

"All Secret Service issued equipment has been retrieved and the employee’s access to all Secret Service facilities is terminated. These allegations, if proven true, are intolerable and are condemned by the Secret Service," the agency said.
