Officials with the U.S. Secret Service tell News4 someone threw a bag over the fence at the White House Thursday afternoon.
The incident was reported around 5:20 p.m. and sections of Pennsylvania Avenue were closed while police investigated the suspicious package.
Police say one person is in custody and the scene was cleared about an hour later.
