The second of two men charged in a shooting that wounded two teenage boys outside Frederick High School at a basketball game pleaded guilty for his role in the incident Tuesday.
Brandon Earl Tyler, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree assault.
On February 4 , Tyler and co-defendant Chandler Tristan Davenport, 20, arrived at Frederick High School together toward the end of a rival junior varsity basketball game between Frederick and Governor Thomas Johnson High School, police said.
Davenport entered the gymnasium, encountered members of a rival gang and lured them outside, police said. An altercation followed, during which Tyler pulled out a .380 caliber handgun and fired at the opposing gang members.
The two men planned the attack, police said.
Frederick County Public Schools spokesman Michael Doerrer said the schools are safe.
"Gangs are not a school issue per se, they're a community issue," he said.

The victims were ages 14 and 15 when they were shot. They have since recovered.
Frederick Police arrested Tyler and Davenport in March after reviewing video footage from the school and conducting interviews.
Tyler received a 25-year sentence with all but 12 years suspended for the first count and five years, consecutive, suspended for the second count. He will also serve five years of supervised probation after he completes his sentence. Tyler is also not permitted to enter any public school buildings in Frederick County.
Davenport pleaded guilty in March to two counts of reckless endangerment. Prosecutors accepted his plea on the condition that he testify against Tyler.
Interim police Chief Patrick Grossman said he understood how the shooting had alarmed residents of the city of 68,000, about 40 miles west of both Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
"We feel attacked where we feel the most vulnerable," Grossman said.
