Rockville Parents Charged After Death of Infant Daughter

Parents in Rockville, Maryland face charges in connection with the death of their infant daughter after police say her father physically and sexually abused her and her mother failed to seek medical care.

Robert Alan Davidson, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder and other charges after Montgomery County Police said Friday night he confessed to repeatedly sexually abusing, dropping and shaking his10-week old baby girl, Aleah.

Davidson called 911 the evening of June 23 to report that Aleah was not breathing. An emergency crew rushed the infant to a hospital. She was then flown to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, police said.

Baby Aleah died there three days later, on June 26.

The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical examiner ruled the death a homicide caused to multiple blunt force injuries.

In interviews with police, Davidson admitted to repeatedly abusing the infant and said he had not sought medical care for Aleah after the incidents he described, police said.

Mother Lorena Thompson, 22, admitted she had seen bruises and other injuries on the baby after Aleah had been in her father's care, police said. She did not seek medical treatment for the infant, according to police.

Davidson and Thompson were arrested at their home about 12:15 p.m. Friday. Davidson was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, neglect of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor and second-degree sex offense. Thompson was charged with first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury and neglect of a minor. 

Thompson's 5-year-old son is in the care of a family member, police said.
