Rockville Day Care, Swim Club Damaged in Fire

The fire caused part of the roof of the day care and swim club to collapse

Flames and smoke gutted a day care center and a swim club in Rockville, Maryland, Sunday night.

A fire broke out about 8:15 p.m. at the Georgetown Hill Early School and Woodley Gardens Swim Club in the 800 block of Nelson Street, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

Piringer said the fire was mostly contained and firefighters were battling flames from outside.

Video Piringer posted to Twitter of the day care center shows white smoke billowing out of a partially collapsed roof and firefighters dousing embers and small flames.

No one was hurt in the fire, Piringer said.
