Robbery Sparks Tragic Events in Suitland

Victim IDed as Nick Charles Boddie, 35, of Suitland

D.C. and Prince George's County Police are looking for the person who broke into a Suitland home, sparking a strange series of events that left one man dead.

The victim has been identified as Nick Charles Boddie, 35, of Suitland.

Authorities say someone broke into Boddie's apartment in the 3800 block of Regency Park Court Monday afternoon. There was some sort of confrontation, and Boddie was stabbed several times, police said.

Shortly afterward, Boddie's girlfriend found him and rushed him to her car. But as she sped to the hospital, she apparently lost control of her car and crashed near the Maryland / D.C. border.

Rescue workers took Boddie to a local hospital, where he died.

The chaotic series of events left neighbors stunned. Many of them were kept from the apartment building where the crime occurred for more than four hours while they searched the scene.

"This is not what I am used to," said Kevin Rhodes, the victim's neighbor. "I am ready to move, personally. I can't deal with it no more."

News4's Shomari Stone said neighbors said police had responded to the same apartment less than one month ago. Police would not confirm that, Stone said.

The man was airlifted to a hospital, but died. The person who broke into the apartment got away.
