RNC Recommends Reinstatement of Anti-Trump Delegate From DC

The Republican National Committee is recommending reinstatement of a delegate to the upcoming presidential convention who lost her slot after sharply criticizing presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

Rina Shah Bharara was elected as a delegate earlier this year at the District of Columbia's convention. Bharara, a Marco Rubio supporter, was one of the convention's top vote-getters.

But she drew scrutiny when she said her opposition to Trump was so strong that she might support Democrat Hillary Clinton instead. After making those comments, Breitbart News, a conservative news outlet, wrote articles questioning her D.C. residency.

The D.C. GOP then voted to strip her of her spot, citing the residency concerns.

On Monday, an RNC convention committee ruled Shah should be reinstated, saying she satisfied residency requirements and had been denied due process.
