The Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metro station is back open after a chunk of metal and concrete fell from the ceiling Wednesday night.
A spokesperson for Metro told News4 the structural issue happened about 8:30 p.m. and the debris fell from the mezzanine ceiling.
No injuries were reported.
Metro stopped off-loading passengers at the station and there are shuttle buses for riders, Metro said.
Maintenance crews were at the station to assess the problem, Metro said.
Trains continued to bypass the station through closing Wednesday. But the station reopened just in time for the Thursday's morning rush.
On the Orange Line, trains were single-tracking between the Cheverly and Stadium-Armory stations after Metro Transit Police responded to the report of a sexual assault on a train.
The train was held a short time at the Cheverly station for the police investigation, police said.
