Residents Demand Security After New Year’s Day Murder

Residents of a Prince George's County apartment complex are demanding higher security days after a man was shot and killed in their parking garage on New Year's Day.

Stefon Powell, 22, was shot and killed at the Camden College Park Apartments parking garage around 2:30 a.m. Jan. 1. No arrest has been made, making the mostly young progessional residents uncomfortable.

Police believe Powell was staying at the complex with a friend.

Thursday night, a community meeting was held at the Camden apartments

"It was that homicide that got the attention which we've been going after for so many months. We've had break-ins, tailgating, break-ins during the day," community association president Cory Sanders said.

"I feel that management isn't really doing anything. I think they're being reactive instead of proactive," resident Dawn Askerneese said.

There's a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in Powell's murder.
