Report: NFL Open to Placing Teams in Hotels for Remainder of Season

Report: NFL open to placing teams in hotels for entire season originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

A recent wave of positive COVID-19 tests within the NFL has seemingly forced the league to brainstorm more creative, and controlled, ways to accommodate the players and finish the 2020 season in its entirety.

According to ProFootballTalk, the NFL will "gladly" put teams in hotels for the remainder of the season, mirroring the "bubble method" which has been successfully accomplished by the NBA in Orlando and the NHL, which had zero positive COVID-19 tests throughout its Stanley Cup playoffs in Toronto and Edmonton. The NBA is on the cusp of crowning a champion without a positive postseason test as well.

The largest question looming is if the NFL Players Association will agree to the aforementioned proposition. According to one PFT source, "the NFLPA balked during July negotiations at a Thursday-to-Sunday team-by-team bubble."

Whether the answer is placing teams in hotels or not, the NFL must plan to act swiftly before the 2020 season is put in real jeopardy.
