Recalled Sandwiches Sold to DC-Area School

No illnesses reported

WASHINGTON -- Sandwiches that could be contaminated with Listeria were sold to a school in the D.C. area.

Café Favorites recalled whole grain, 5-inch super sub sandwiches with day codes 08343 because of the possibility that they are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems.

The Maryland distributor sold some to a school in the D.C. area. Distributors in Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania also had some of the sandwiches.

Symptoms include high fevers, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

No illnesses have been reported.
