Rapper Fat Trel Accused of Trying to Use Counterfeit Cash at Maryland Casino

A Washington, D.C., rapper was arrested after police said he tried to pass off counterfeit bills at a casino in Maryland.

Martrel Reeves, also known as Fat Trel, was arrested by Anne Arundel County police on Sunday after investigators said he tried to exchange the fake money for chips at Hanover's Maryland Live Casino.

A police report said casino security personnel told officers a man, identified as Reeves, presented $450 of counterfeit bills to a table pit boss.

Reeves told investigators he got the cash from an ATM at a Washington convenience store and didn't know it was counterfeit.

Reeves, who is signed with Maybach Music Group and Atlantic Records, is charged with possession of counterfeit currency.

The Capital newspaper reports Reeves' attorney Thomas Mooney could not be reached for comment.
