Officials with the District assured News4 they will be re-assessing the crossing between 60th and 61st Streets on Eastern Avenue.
The crossing is where 30-year-old Georgette Jones was fatally struck last week.
Jones' fiancé Nicholas Clarke is now left to raise Jones' daughter and their 7-week-old son, Jhaden, by himself.
"Unfortunately, he will never know who his mom is...," Clarke said. "It's going to be hard, because she stayed home and kept the kids, and I went to work."
Police say Jones, known as "G", was struck by a Chevy Tahoe around 9:15 p.m Thursday. Clarke says Jones' purse and cell phone were taken after she was hit . The cell phone held videos and photos of the couple with little Jhaden.
"That's all we want, just the phone back. Get all those memories."
Clarke is now turning his grief into action, pushing for safety improvements along Eastern Avenue.

The District's Department of Transportation told News4 they will be reviewing sight distance requirements for pedestrians and motorists, and measure speed and traffic counts.
While News4's camera was rolling, young people popped wheelies on their dirt bikes up and down the street several times. But this isn't the only dangerous behavior on the street. Residents say cars commonly travel down the road at double the 25 mile per hour speed limit.
Clarke added, "There's no pedestrian crossing. It's like playing dodge ball crossing the street."
He would like to see a traffic light or stop signs and a pedestrian crossing to prevent another tragedy from happening.
The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
