Parents will get a chance to meet the new head of Prince George's County Schools Tuesday night.
The Board of Education will host the meet-and-greet with Dr. Kevin Maxwell at G James Gholson Middle School in Landover. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
But Maxwell may be greeted with tough question from parents.
The Anne Arundel County chapter of the NAACP says he didn't do enough to close the achievement gap for black students when he led that county's schools.
According to Anne Arundel County schools, there was a 16 percent gap in math and algebra assessments in 2011 and a 13 percent gap in 2011 state reading and English assessments.
“We need to address this achievement gap and we need to address it now,” said Anne Arundel NAACP President Jacqueline Boond Alsop.
The NAACP filed several federal and local complaints before and during Maxwell’s time as superintendent, Alsop said.

“The population is larger of African-Americans in Prince George’s County,” she said. “And what his plan is and how he plans to do it, I can’t answer that.”
Maxwell worked as a teacher, principal and educational administrator in Prince George's County before becoming superintendent of Anne Arundel County Schools in 2006. He officially begins his job as Prince George's County Schools CEO on Aug. 1.
Another meet-and-greet will be held Aug. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DuVal High School in Lanham, Md.
