Prince George’s County Latino Liaison a Conduit to Community

Prince Georges County Public Schools Liaison Dinora Hernandez

In an effort to better address the concerns of the growing Latino community in Prince George’s County, County Executive Rushern Baker appointed a Latino liaison.

He chose Dinora Hernandez, the daughter of immigrants from El Salvador, to articulate the needs of that community in a new way.

“I’m in a very unique place where I can literally give back to a community that's helped mold me,” she said.

In her newly created position, Hernandez will be the eyes and ears of a community, tasked with transcending what's often a language and cultural barrier.

“A lot of the concerns are not unlike many other communities,” Hernandez said. “We still care about education, health care, jobs, economic development...What I want to do is be a conduit to that, be the person that they can rely on to help them get an answer."
