Prince George's County Police Offer $100 for Guns

Program aims to reduce gun violence

Handing over a gun in Prince George’s County this weekend could earn you $100.

Police and the NAACP are renewing a program aimed at reducing gun violence by taking firearms off the street.

The public can drop off guns Saturday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Oxon Hill United Methodist Church on Livingston Road in Oxon Hill, Md.

The guns can be new or used. It doesn’t matter if they are broken or in great working condition.

The program does require all guns traded in be left unloaded and left in the trunk of a car. An officer will greet the donator and retrieve the gun.

The $100 will be handed out in the form of debit-style gift cards.
