September Shock: Prepare for Traffic Congestion After Labor Day

As the Labor Day holiday winds down, the dreaded traffic slowdown is upon us.

โ€œI've experienced September shock a couple of times since I've lived here, and you don't get used to it," commuter Michael Suderman said.

He is not looking forward to his commute the next couple of weeks, which he said will test his patience.

With summer vacations ending, school back in session and Congress coming back -- all at once -- traffic will build in the coming weeks.

This year the regionโ€™s also dealing with Metro's SafeTrack program, which could put even more people into cars on the road.

Transportation experts say depending on where you are coming from, you could spend an extra hour behind the wheel.
