Possible Cross-Dressing Shoplifter Pepper Sprays Security Guard

$2,000 dress taken from Saks Fifth Avenue

ROCKVILLE, Md. -- A shoplifter used pepper spray against a store security guard, according to Montgomery County police.

A person, possibly a man dressed as a woman in a black and white checked short mini-dress with long sleeves and a wide belt, allegedly stole a $2,000 Chanel dress from the Saks Fifth Avenue store on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase Tuesday.

The culprit entered the store Thursday and removed the dress from a rack before placing it into a large bag, police said. A security officer tried to stop the person from leaving and was sprayed in the eyes with pepper spray.

The shoplifter -- described as a man or woman in his or her 20s, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 160 to 190 pounds with long black hair worn in thin, pulled-back braids -- was last seen running southbound onto Wisconsin Avenue toward the Friendship Heights Metro Station.
